Chad Eken

President

Chad Eken is the President of Lykos Energy. With almost 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, Chad has been instrumental in leading initiatives and internal projects to enhance company performance.

Chad Eken is a renewable energy executive with extensive leadership experience across both wind and solar sectors. Over the course of his career, he has held multiple leadership roles, advancing from Field Engineer to Vice President of Wind and then Vice President of Solar, overseeing project portfolios and driving operational excellence in safety, quality, and profitability.

Before joining Lykos Energy, Chad served as Vice President of Solar at MasTec Renewables, where he was responsible for the overall management of the company’s non-union solar portfolio. In this role, he collaborated with senior executives and department leaders to optimize project execution, develop accurate estimates, and implement engineering solutions that improved organizational performance.

Previously, Chad also served as Vice President of Wind at MasTec Renewables, providing leadership and oversight for the company’s non-union wind portfolio. Across both roles, he managed teams of Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and Construction Managers, ensuring projects were delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. He also maintained strong client relationships, managed contract administration, and provided mentorship to project teams, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.

Chad holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in construction management from the University of North Dakota.

Coty Wheatley

Director of Operations

Coty Wheatley is a construction management professional with over 12 years of experience in EPC utility-scale power projects, including oil and gas, solar, and battery energy storage.

His career spans key roles in estimating, procurement, subcontracts, scheduling, and project controls, with a proven ability to support complex projects across multiple disciplines.

Coty began his career in 2013 with Kiewit Power Constructors, where he spent 7.5 years working primarily on EPC combined cycle projects in the oil and gas sector. During this time, he gained broad exposure across business functions and advanced his education with a Graduate Certificate in Engineering and Construction Project Management from UMKC and a Master of Business Administration from Park University. In 2020, he joined Wanzek Construction to focus on utility-scale solar projects and later expanded his expertise at Gridworks in 2023, supporting both solar and battery energy storage developments.

Coty holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri–Kansas City and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute.

Crystal Davis

Senior Project Manager

Crystal Davis is a seasoned construction management professional with over 20 years of experience leading large-scale industrial, renewable energy, and commercial projects.

Crystal has held extensive leadership roles in utility-scale solar, midstream oil and gas, and downstream refining turnaround projects, where she managed EPC contracts, budgets exceeding $80 million, and teams of up to 400 personnel. Crystal is recognized for her ability to deliver projects on time and within budget, with an uncompromising commitment to safety and quality.

Before joining her current role, Crystal advanced through positions spanning field supervision, project engineering, turnaround logistics, capital projects, and commissioning activities. Along the way, she developed expertise in project controls, planning, scheduling, and contract management, with proficiency in platforms such as Primavera (P6/P7), Microsoft Project, Procore, SAP, Vista, and Unifier.

Crystal holds an Associate of Science in Construction Management from San Joaquin Valley College and has completed advanced training in project management, safety (OSHA 30), API 653, Primavera, and leadership development through Franklin Covey.

Eric Wieland

Senior Account Executive

Eric Wieland serves as Senior Account Executive at Lykos Energy, where he builds long-lasting partnerships with clients and delivers tailored solutions for their energy project needs.

With nearly two decades of experience in renewable energy construction, Eric has a strong background in estimating, project management, and operations for large-scale wind projects.

Before joining Lykos Energy in March 2025, Eric spent 18 years at Wanzek Construction, advancing through roles from Project Engineer to Senior Estimator. His deep technical expertise, combined with his commitment to client relationships, allows him to bridge the gap between complex project requirements and practical, cost-effective solutions.

Eric holds a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering from North Dakota State University and an Associate’s degree in Welding from the North Dakota State College of Science.

John Grimes

Senior Safety Manager

John Grimes is the Senior Safety Manager at Lykos Energy. During his 5+ years of experience in the renewable energy sector, supporting safety in the execution of successful projects.

John began his career in law enforcement, serving 10 years and ultimately working as a Major Crimes Investigator, where he specialized in homicides and other complex cases. He then transitioned into construction safety with Wanzek Construction, advancing from Site Safety Manager to Senior Manager, where he oversaw safety and security for utility-scale wind and solar projects. During this time, he earned his Safety Trained Supervisor–Construction (STSC) certification.

In January 2025, John joined Lykos Energy as Senior Safety Manager, where he launched the company’s safety program, implementing policies, procedures, and training initiatives to strengthen a culture of safety across operations. While at Lykos, he also obtained the Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification, further solidifying his expertise in the field.

John attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University on a baseball scholarship while studying mathematics education.
